The book for this week’s giveaway is Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, the first book of one of the best epic fantasy trilogies I’ve ever read. I love the world, the premise, the magic system, the characters, the action scenes…. but you don’t have to take just my word for how good it is. How goeth the writing?
Oh, it goes…. sporadically.
It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks, but I planned for that mentally, so I won’t fall too too behind. You?

How does it compare to Elantris? Did Sanderson’s prose improve in the intervening time? Because, while I thought the premise behind Elantris was intriguing, I was never able to get into the story and did not finish it.
I like (okay, loved!) the Mistborn trilogy and his standalone Warbreaker much more than Elantris. His prose isn’t beautiful (workmanlike is what I’d call it, *grin*), but he makes up for it with some really cool ideas, neat characters and a darn good high-stakes plot.
That sounds so tempting! And another author I’ve never heard of.

oops! Never mind. Apparently Amazon has it listed twice–one edition is not available but the other is.
I just finished the Wheel of Time novel that Sanderson co-authored with Robert Jordan and loved it. So I’m looking out for the first volume of the Mistborn books, which I’ve heard are his best!
