I love this article. I don't know: just the whole reminder that a rough draft does not a publishable author make. It's the rewriting. (and so many of us doing THAT right now!)

Of course, my method currently is similar to yours. I'm in the throes of HTRYN and redoing it to boot. As dreadful as it is to be back at the beginning though, I'm grateful. The first time I went through I actually dove in with a bunch of my spherical thinking/percolating/weaving scattered threads way of working, which while useful, doesn't get at the heart of the 1B, 2B worksheets and how powerful they can be. Nope. I had to go into left-brained analytics mode, which lucky for me is EXACTLY as easy to do as the other. Talk about an eye-opener.

But it's nice to not make the same mistakes this time, to cover more ground, to work my tail off because, as you said somewhere else, I simply love the writing. I couldn't have picked much of a less marketable piece to write and I couldn't give a flip. I just love this piece.

But as for my normal revision process, I tend to either polish as necessary or completely dump and rewrite. This dive in and actually revise method has only ever been applied to In This Wood, thus far. I sense upcoming revisions though. This is fun. (some of the time :D )
